Privacy Policy
Effective 17 October 2026
In short: Tonecraft edits your photos on your phone. The developer has no servers and never receives your photos or personal data. There are no ads and no analytics. If you connect Google Drive, your backups and photos go directly between your phone and your own Google account.
This policy covers the Tonecraft app for Android (“Tonecraft”, “the app”), made by Teacher Kelvin / GenZ production (“we”, “us”). Contact: asicspg@gmail.com.
1. Your photos
- With your permission, Tonecraft reads the photos on your phone to show them in its gallery and to edit them. You can allow all photos or only selected ones, or open single files without giving any photo permission.
- All editing, including the AI selections (subject, sky, people and objects), runs on your phone. Your photos are not uploaded anywhere unless you turn on Save photos to Drive (section 3).
- Your original files are never changed. Edits are saved as small settings files inside the app's private storage, and finished photos are saved to your phone's Pictures/Tonecraft folder.
- When saving, Tonecraft copies camera details from the original (such as camera model, lens, exposure settings and date taken) into the new photo, and can show them in watermarks you choose. Location (GPS) data is never copied into saved photos.
2. Downloads from the internet
Some parts of Tonecraft are downloaded when first needed: AI selection models, Chinese fonts and, in versions installed outside Google Play, app updates. These are fetched from a public Google Drive folder through Google's Drive API. The requests identify the Tonecraft app (its package name and signing certificate) and, like any internet request, reveal your device's IP address to Google. They contain no personal information about you, and we do not receive them. Google's handling of these requests is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
3. Google sign-in and Google Drive (optional)
You can connect your own Google account in Settings → Google Drive. Nothing happens with Google Drive until you do. When you connect, Google asks you to allow two limited permissions:
drive.appdata— a hidden folder in your Drive that only Tonecraft can use. Your backup is stored here: your photo edits (settings only, not the photos), presets, saved watermarks, logos you added, and a few app settings.drive.file— access only to files Tonecraft itself creates. If you turn on Save photos to Drive, each photo you save is also uploaded, at full size, to a “Tonecraft” folder in your Drive.
Tonecraft cannot see, read or change any other files in your Drive. It also reads your Google account's email address, only to show which account is connected; this stays on your phone.
All of this data travels directly between your phone and your Google account over an encrypted connection. It is stored in your Google Drive under Google's terms, and is never sent to us or to anyone else.
Limited Use. Tonecraft's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This data is used only to provide the backup, restore and save-to-Drive features you turn on. It is not used for advertising, not sold, not shared with third parties, and not read by people.
4. What we do not do
- No accounts on our side and no Tonecraft servers.
- No advertising, analytics, tracking or crash-reporting services.
- We do not collect, sell or share your personal data or photos.
5. Permissions the app uses
- Photos and media — to show and edit your photos.
- Internet and network state — for the downloads in section 2, for Google Drive if you connect it, and to back up only on Wi-Fi.
- Install apps (versions installed outside Google Play only) — to install Tonecraft updates you choose to download.
6. Keeping or deleting your data
- Data on your phone stays until you delete it in the app or uninstall Tonecraft, which removes all of the app's private data.
- Disconnect in Settings → Google Drive withdraws Tonecraft's access to your Google account. You can also remove access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- To delete your backup, open Google Drive on the web → Settings → Manage apps → Tonecraft → Options → Delete hidden app data. Photos in your “Tonecraft” Drive folder are ordinary files you can delete like any other.
7. Children
Tonecraft is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from anyone.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
